In June of this year, Inc. Magazine named Essential Software Inc. (ESI) as one of the “best places to work” in 2025. The stories our staff shared show why ESI is not only a “great place to work”, but how it empowers them to innovate and lead in the life sciences.

A highly engaged and active workforce

This year’s list evaluated American companies based on an audit of ESI’s benefits and employee feedback. Staff anonymously rated our culture, benefits, and their experiences while working for ESI. The results were overwhelmingly positive and surpassed the average metric for similarly sized companies:

  • 98% are engaged with ESI’s mission and work.
  • 96% agree that ESI senior leadership view people as the most important resource.
  • 90% agree they are recognized for their contributions.
  • On average, they scored their experience with ESI as 91.44 out of 100.

In addition to the ratings, staff shared stories of how ESI uniquely supported them in their day-to-day work and long-term career goals. “I think by and large the most attractive thing is that ESI people are all emotionally intelligent, open to finding new ways, and support one another in being successful and innovative,” shared Rebecca Ferleman, ESI’s Human Resource Manager. “We set up an environment to support that mindset. And I think it shows. People feel heard and know what they do and think matters.”

The results showed that ESI is making the right strides in attracting and keeping top talent, with room to strive for excellence. After all, the impact of ESI’s culture is not limited to the company alone.

Empowering staff to lead innovation for clients

At ESI, we believe that creating a culture of support and innovation is critical to delivering results for our clients. “Innovation starts at home. If we lag in our culture, benefits, or in making an environment where you can learn and grow, how can we expect staff to lead?” explained Ferleman. “We have to be innovative within the company to not only communicate the value, but to empower staff to go out and do great things for our clients.”

We’ve seen the real and significant results of this mindset for clients, including:

Our staff consistently commented that ESI’s core values of innovation, integrity, humility, and collaboration were “not just words on our website.” We are highly committed to leading with those values and driving results for all ESI clients.
