For a second consecutive year, Essential Software Inc. (ESI) has made Inc. Magazine’s list of 5000 fastest-growing private companies in the U.S., alongside companies like AKOOL, CaryHealth, and Vannevar Labs.

How did we rank?

Inc. Magazine determines rankings according to a company’s percentage revenue growth from 2021 to 2024. All companies on the list are U.S.-based, privately held, for-profit, and independent organizations. The ranks are also categorized to understand an organization’s rank geographically, by industry, and overall.

This year, we ranked:

  • Overall: 3,723 out of 5,000
  • Government Services: 120 out of 155
  • Maryland:  98 out of 125

While the numbers demonstrate our growth, Inc. Magazine shared further context behind the significance of these rankings in this current environment.

“Making the Inc. 5000 is always a remarkable achievement but earning a spot this year speaks volumes about a company’s tenacity and clarity of vision,” says Mike Hofman, editor-in-chief of Inc. Magazine. “These businesses have thrived amid rising costs, shifting global dynamics, and constant change. They didn’t just weather the storm—they grew through it, and their stories are a powerful reminder that the entrepreneurial spirit is the engine of the U.S. economy.”

And growing, adapting, and supporting clients through AI’s technological revolution is exactly what ESI intends to do.

What does this mean for our clients?

For ESI, this rank is a sign of our commitment to innovating and meeting and anticipating our customer needs.

“At ESI, we measure success not simply in revenue, but in the strength of our client partnerships, the impact of our innovations, and the career development of our people,” explained ESI President and Founder, Dr. Ye Wu. “Over the past year, we’ve invested heavily in R&D to bring new AI-driven features to our processes and our software projects, while simultaneously expanding our professional development programs to support every team member’s growth journey.”

By committing to this growth mindset, ESI staff have helped deliver AI-powered solutions for the National Cancer Institute including a model to synthesize insights from complex scientific and technical documents, and a chatbot helping researchers explore nanomaterial resources.

“Hitting this milestone shows that when we prioritize innovation and sustainable, people-centric strategies alongside smart financial stewardship, exceptional results follow.”
